Gadwal cotton, from Telangana.
Gadwal is a weaving town in southern Telangana, known for crisp cottons with bold contrast borders and a heavily worked pallu. The zari motifs are woven into the cloth on the loom, not printed on top. Turn the pallu over when it arrives: you will see the zari threads running across the back, which is how you know the pattern is part of the weave.
A bright lime green body scattered with small teal buttas, framed by a teal border. The border and pallu carry copper zari peacocks and paisleys, finished with teal tassels.
Light enough to wear through a Delhi summer, crisp enough to hold its pleats all day. Easy for work, and the zari pallu lifts it for a family function or puja.
